How it works
Most VPS providers enforce a 512 MiB to 1 GiB minimum RAM allocation per VM. This floor has nothing to do with customer workloads. It exists because modern Linux systems cannot reliably function below that range. Kernel overhead, init systems, logging daemons, page cache growth, and background services consume a large fraction of memory before the application even starts. In contrast, the BareMetal exokernel requires ~4–8 MiB of memory. With skyrocketing RAM prices, the BareMetal Kernel is a viable option for VPS providers to squeeze efficiency out of their hardware.
Linux or even Windows are better options for general applicability. But BareMetal kernel is the best alternative for service providers looking to provide Lambda-type hosting offerings.

There is no charge to VPS providers to provision virtual machines running BareMetal Kernel to their customers. This zip file contains a pre-built BareMetal + Web Server image.
